We invited to the symposium "Digital Twin of Building Automation (BACtwin). At the Gutenberg Digital Hub in Mainz, participants were able to learn from the expertise of industry-renowned specialists. The focus of the event was on the digital twin of building automation, BACtwin.
The first expert and book author to speak was Hans R. Kranz: "BACnet and the digital twin of building automation is the story of an inevitability," he defined. With which means building owners can reach the goals of the Green Deal of the European Union commission, Hofrat Dr. Rupert Fritzenwallner of the Austrian federal army showed clearly. Jürgen Hardkop and André Hoehne from the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Working Group of State and Municipal Administrations (AMEV) highlighted the labeling system as a basic prerequisite for digitalization. They presented AMEV's proposal for a suitable addressing system.
Daniel Rörich, Smart Building Alliance, specified the specifications for building owners and planners that are necessary to make buildings ready for digitization. He is convinced: "The digital twin as part of the specifications for building automation is the basis for planning and tendering future-proof building automation systems". Bernhard Ramroth from the company Excel for You presented a tool that checks compliance during commissioning.
Finally, Christian Wild, managing director of ICONAG-Leittechnik, explained how engineering costs can be reduced by the self-configuring management and operating device based on BACtwin. He illustrated how, with the B-CON software, the use of BACtwin can reduce the effort and costs involved in implementing vendor-neutral management and operating equipment and energy management systems.
Finally, experts from different companies explained the digitalization of facility management processes based on CAFM Connect and BACtwin using the example of maintenance, repair and energy management. Thomas Bender from pit-FM used the pit-FM software to illustrate the status of BIM standardization and the importance of BACtwin for linking facility management processes with building automation. Using GEZE as an example, Jürgen Keller (GEZE) explained the potential offered by the integration of locking technology for the goals of safety, sustainability and convenience within the framework of digitalization via the BACtwin. This also opens up possibilities for the facade trade, which Dirk Mommaerts from the Somfy company presented using Somfy's interfaces.
After the presentations, speakers and participants had the opportunity to discuss the exciting topic further.
ICONAG Managing Director Christian Wild was satisfied after the event: "We are pleased about the interest and the lively participation. Our specialist conferences regularly provide information on building automation topics and give building owners and operators of real estate suggestions for recognizing the potential of future-proof building automation."
»It has finally happened and I must say that Christian Wild has put the speakers together wonderfully. It was great fun to finally be able to perform in front of an audience again after 2 ½ years in solitude.
It was beautiful thank you very much!«
Hans R. Kranz, HAK Ingenieurberatung
»Many thanks for the professional preparation and execution of the BACtwin symposium!
It was a first-class event!«
The Gutenberg Digital Hub e. V. is a broad alliance of business, science, and politics that is working together to meet the challenges of digital transformation. It is based in the old wine warehouse at the customs port in Mainz. Networking and exchange have been lived here since 2019. The spacious premises between the Rhine and the harbor basin offer room for meetings and events. A culture of exchange and learning from and with each other is to be lived here with the aim of making digitization in companies, the city and the region fit for the future.
